Orienteering Race Česká Kanada 2011 Has Extended Entry Deadline till 23 May
5 days orienteering race Česká Kanada 2011 taking place from 2nd till 6th July near Jindřichův Hradec has extended the deadline of the basic entry fees until 23rd May. The term and the location of this race are ideal combination with BA11.

At the moment are detailed instructions available. And you also can look at start list, arriving map and area plan BA10. Competitors, who sleep in tents, pay attention to the camp dispositions. There is no possibility to park by tents, just at the border of field. We also advice you to take your ID card with you for the race, Army can check you!

BA10 – When? and Where? | 14.3. |
When you say „deep forests and untouched nature“, for Czech Republic it usually means national park or military area. So, for our 10th anniversary, we tried to find a special locality, which is highly unique for all of you (foreigners and Czechs too). In 2010 we would like to invite you to Military Area Brdy-Jince, which is south of Prague and maybe you have heard about it in connection with NATO trainings and USA antimissile radar. BA10 also takes place around Southeast parts of Plzeň region, Třemšín and Trhoň. The last important information is the date, so note down 24th – 25th July 2010.

Caution: There is a Change of Incoming Driving Road on Saturday 11. 7. 2009
If you are going to come on Saturday morning, don’t take a road Jirkov – Boleboř, there will be automobile up-hill race. Recommended detour is through Květnov. On Friday and on Sunday is this road open. This road is restricted during Saturday’s race too. All will be marked on the map at the center.

Food Behaviour at BA9 | 7.7. |
Before we publish final instructions for this race, we give you few tips for correct eating. The Chef of Lesná hotel prepares some venison patter, or sausages, hamburgers, and vegetable salads will be offered in outside tent. Morning coffee and tee will be possible to buy too. But you can bring whatever you like and prefers. Important thing is, not to drive your car out and back too often.

Start List and Instruction | 6.7. |
Start list and instruction to BA9 you find here 8th July 2009. The weather forecast gives us feeling, we will have enough of water and we will not suffer by heat. We recommend you to get ready for all possible conditions not to be surprised later on. So take enough spare bike equipment, but rain-boots, raincoat and some other helpful accessories would be fine too. There will be possible to buy some biking stuff at tents of Bike Tunel, Můjsport and Merida, and clothes CRAFT and SALOMON. Mapboards: Autopilot and Miry.

On the Roads in the Nature | 28.6. |
Except deer and mouflons, it is possible to see very rare bird Black Cock (tetrao tetrix) in the forests, peat, and moors of Krušné mountains. To protect them, there are some birds’ localities. Our checkpoints are in these areas, but only on the main, well marked roads, not to interrupt those wonderful birds. Ornithologists count these birds regularly and watch their localities. We will remain away. Thank you for the understanding.

Radek Laciga a Silver Medallist from the EOC | 26.6. |
One member of our organizing team, and son of mastermind of our race – Kamenáč, won a silver medal in sprint event at MTBO European Championship in Denmark! Hanka La Carbonara won bronze medal for our republic and in junior category František Bogár took gold. Congratulations. Radek Laciga will be one of the track referees during BA9. Next month we start! This year we are offering SMS service again, this will inform you about your results from the 1st leg, and tarting time for the 2nd, and the final result too. Thanks to iCom Vision company, we will introduce you our news – our BA web will be ready for mobile browsing, so if you want, you can surf the results of your competitors right from the finish area.

BA8 Revival | 2.6. |
If you would like to remember the terrain of BA8, or if you haven´t been there and want to see terrain around Dobříš, you have a very nice opportunity to look back there and see those places once more. On Saturday 6th June, there is another race of series Brdmann Adventure, which is BA style – Brdmann Cross. It takes place just on Saturday, time limit is 5 hrs and there are some attached untraditional bonus checkpoints.

We remind you, there is end of registration and payments with the lowest fee. Who ordered the T-shirt, must pay 200,- Kč or 120,- Kč for the children´s. Tips to Prepare | 20.5. |
This weekend you can ride Free Order race at Czech MTBO Championship in Voznice. Two weeks before BA9 starts, there is an International Championship of Czech Republic and Germany in rogaining, which takes place close to the area of BA9. You can race in food scorelauf orienteering for 6, 12 or 24 hrs, or you can try MTBO alternative in Cyklogaining.

Deer Pugs | 15.5. |
Do you know, what to do, when you meet a deer in a single-track? Look at this picture of some pugs of wild animals... Maybe, those information will be useful to you during the race. Couple of deer is main visual motive for Merida BA9. This year, our poster will be printed by cartographical publishing Žaket in few days.

Ground Survey BA9 | 13.5. |
As most of you have expected, there is mountain terrain with many little lakes, pools, swamps, stones and power lines. All this reminds far-away North. There are places, where you don’t believe what you see – dwarf-pines, birch tree forests and mountain meadows, and – view to highly industrial landscape. You can meet memorials of liberators or wolf-hunters. We haven’t met bears yet, but mouflons and deer we have. There also are many cows, sheep, and goats. We also discovered alternative centrum of the race. 2nd part of the video . In photogallery , you can find pictures, but the reality you have to experience by yourself.

T-shirts | 12.5. |
New collection for this season is ready! Classical designs, fine cotton with deers´ printing, short sleeves, and different colours: khaki for women, lime for men, and apple green for children. Apple colour will have organizers´ t-shirts too. So you could easily recognise them, if the weather will be friendly enough.

Registration for BA9 Will Start in a Week | 11.5. |
On-line registration for Bike Adventure 2009 will start on the 19th May 2009. There is a limit of 1 000 starting numbers for 500 teams and all were taken very quickly last year. We expect the same situation this year again, so we will offer pink positions for alternate riders too. The category Team Spirit (team race of at least 3 teams with the same name) will be automatically placed together - but be careful about writing this name in registration form, there needs to be all the letters absolutely the same!

Offstage´s News | 7.5. |
This weekend we go to check and ride the terrain and prepare the map for. We will stay in penzion Praha in the town Hora Svaté Kateřiny, because in Lesná, there is race of Sherpas - Šerpa Cup. We hope, we will like it! And also, we hope there will be no snow... Well, caps are obligatory as well as helmets. We also are going to decide, when we start the registration. Next week we bring you more news and a picture of new t-shirts too. Have a nice weekend and train hard!

First of all, very new terrain, not used yet, and especially not very known terrain are the main news of this year´s BA. Just shortly - this year it will be 6+4, map with pre-printed checkpoins, SMS result service, BA Open for those, who want just to try it, T-shirts for adults and children as well, and expect some more surprises too. Completed invitation for the race is open. Registration will be possible in close time.

Merida Loves Mountains | 27.4. |
MERIDA is a label, which rides all the world Champions and Olympic winners. It will be a partner of Bike Adventure for the third times. Merida brings its large tent and technical team, so you can look forward to check and test the best material, which you can under this label get. During the weekend of June 27. - 28. Merida organizes Merida Bike Vysočina , where you can compete in marathon, cross-country or spinning marathon or fan to the elite riders during sprint or cross-country races.

High Record | 23.4. |
This year, you will fight in highest altitude in Merida Bike Adventure’s history. In Orlické Mountains, there was the centrum of the race 709 m. above sea level. This year, in Lesná, the base camp will be on the ground elevation 911 m. above the sea! It looks like; you should have some mountain, even alpine training. Look how cruel weather is there now - webcamera.

Once, when the summer asks you, what have you done over the spring… | 16 .4. |
There are many adventures waiting for you during different events organized by our friends all over this beautiful Czech country. This Saturday, there is Viprahlý Bajkonur, in May there are Six Numbers, Smržman or Russion Ruleta in June. And you can finish your preparation for Merida Bike Adventrure at 5-days MTBO in Pilsen.

BA9 – Krušné hory, Lesná | 13. 4. |
Chomutov, Most, Litvínov – they are all places, which doesn’t sound the best to the Czech people. And to ride a bike there?! And what about Krušné Mountains? Especially the central part of it around Lesná, Klíny, Hora sv. Kateřiny, the dam Fláje, and little German villages… There is wide plateau with little climbing and nice visibility over random valleys, which are not that small as they can look like. We invite you to the area, which is not very well known in biking community, and you will see it’s pity. We invite you to the area of very active people, who tries to make these places nice to live. As we saw during this weekend, not just recreants from Prague go to Slapy dam, but bikers with mapboards as well. They also visit radar in brdy, but not the American one ;-). Merida Bike Adventure 2008 is over and we believe you liked this area between Vltava river and Brdy highlands and we are looking forward to see you again.
