Podebradka Bike Adventure 2005

The wide forests of the Drahany Highland and its surroundings, where the race takes place, is an ideal environment for Bike Adventure. Moreover, some parts of courses go through the generally forbidden military area Drahany - Dedice.

The race is suitable for everybody, from holiday bikers to experienced racers as everybody can choose his/her way according to his/her ideas and abilities. The free-order-race is more interesting and adventurous than classical races since it doesn't depend only on your physical condition and cycling style but also on your sense of direction in the countryside and your chosen tactics. The couples spend the entire race together and, therefore also team co-operation and good co-ordination are of great importance. Moreover, a couples' race brings new experience, shared crises and the joy of success.

Before starting, each team will receive a map and the specifications of the checkpoints and their classification by points. The aim is to collect as many points as possible by passing the checkpoints in the given period of time.

Entries

Please fill your entry form till 30th June on www.bike-adventure.cz. Later entries will be accepted only according to the possibilities of the organizer and with higher entry fee. The number of participants is limited up to 1000. The state of the entries can be found on www.bike-adventure.cz.
Only persons older than 18 years on the day of the race, can entry the race. Younger people only with approval written by their parents. In case you cannot start in the race, the organizer does not give back the start fee. Deregistering from the race is possible by e-mail on the address: prihlaska@bike-adventure.cz till 30th June 2005. Cancellation fee is 100 CZK.
Any changes in your entries shall be send by email on prihlaska@bike-adventure.cz (extra fee for changes 50 CZK). Use this e-mail ONLY for changes or deregistering!!!

Entry fees

600 CZK per couple and both days paid until 30th June 2005.
800 CZK per couple and both days paid until 8th July 2005.

SportIdent

We use the electronically system of checking control points and times measuring - Sport Ident. It's a modern technology allowing measuring split times both the final time in the finish.
Participants with own Sport Ident chip fill its code in the entry form. It is also possible to rent Sport Ident chip from organizers. Please, order your chip in the entry form in this case. The entry fee is 80 CZK for a chip, when lost you have to pay its price of 700 CZK.
Only one chip for a couple is necessary at Bike Adventure.

Accommodation

Accommodation is located in centre of the event in your own tents (the price per person is 90 CZK per night, parking and municipality fees included). Order your interest in the entry form. Other possibilities of accommodation are in the surrounding hotels.

Parking

The participants accommodated in the camp can park at their tents, parking fee included in the accommodation fee. Others will use a separate parking place with extra fee (20 CZK).

8th July 2005 in the race centre from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m
9th July 2005 in the race centre from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.

Start

Interval start, no risk of traffic jams, etc.
Both days the first competitors start at 9:00 a.m. Everybody will find out their exact start time at the registration.

Courses

The same for all categories - time limit:
1^st day - 6 hours
2^nd day - 4 hours

Map

Tourist map SHOCart, scale 1: 50 000. We will use a special map made only for the race - collection of 4 ordinary maps. The competitors will get the map of the race area from the organizer at the registration (one map for a couple; it will be possible to buy another one there).

Bike Adventure Team Spirit

If you are at least 3 couples from the same club or company, you are automatically entered to the attractive race Team Spirit. The team consists of at least 3 couples (arbitrary - men, women or mixed couples) from the same club or firm (must be same name of the club).

Additional activities

• Baby Zoom - (nursery school for your children) - the organisers will look after your children during the race - entertaining program, small sport games.
• Bike Tunnel - partner's bike-service of Bike Adventure, basic service for your bike, selling of bike staff including map boxes, and helms' rental
• Night depository of bikes - limited capacity
• Bike Adventure Zaket - special prize for the biggest jacket-man - wins the couple with the latest arrival after the limit. The prize is awarded by Zaket - sponsor of the race.
• Refreshment and food - basic assortment in the event centre (buffets) and the camping restaurant

Awards

First 3 couples in all categories will be awarded valuable prizes and diplomas. There is also going to be a ballot - drawing from all the start numbers for extra prizes.

Suggested equipment

Mountain or trekking bike, spares and tire-tubes, map box (it enables you to follow the map during the ride, you can buy one at the race-centre), helmet obligatory. The racers themselves are responsible for their refreshments during the race.

Rules and conditions

1. All the participants are obliged to keep all the rules of the behaviour given in the nature of the Czech Republic. In case of not keeping these rules the participants can be disqualified from the race and can be recoursed by owners of lots or government bodies. Part of courses will go trough the military area Drahany - Dedice, it is necessary to respect areas forbidden in the map.
2. Each participant will receive a cycling map and a list of all checkpoints at his/her registration. The participants will mark the checkpoints in the map according to the given co-ordinates.
3. On the start day the point evaluation will be announced by the organizer - individual checkpoints have various point value. It depends on the couple what strategy they will choose to achieve as many points as possible in the given period of time.
4. Start is in regular waves with intervals of 5 minutes - it is therefore necessary to appear in the start-zone with a time reserve of 10 min at least so that the couple is ready for their start time (stated in the start card) in time. If a couple comes later, the participant will lose his/her minutes without return.
5. The participants mark passing the checkpoints in their electronic card - Sport Ident chip. The racers must stay during the race "within earshot" all the time and must pass the race together. The motto of this race is: "two are more than just one".
6. The race limit is set and every minute more is fined.
7. Other people's help is absolutely out of question. The participants using other people's help (hitch-hiking) are in for disqualification.
8. The organizers take no responsibility for the health of participants, the technical condition of bike etc. There is no restriction of the road traffic during the race. The participants acknowledge by signing the application form that they take part in the race at their own risk.
9. The organizers ask the participants to respect the principals of behavior in nature - not to throw away paper, not to leave packing behind, not to bike off roads, etc.
